Not sure what to do with that flank steak sitting in your freezer? Try this flavorful recipe that strikes the perfect balance of salty, spicy, and savory. It’s even easy to customize—just toss in your favorite vegetables to make it your own!
Ingredients:
2 lbs. Tjaden Ranch flank steak
6 oz snow peas
2 c. uncooked jasmine rice
Salt & pepper for seasoning
4 T. butter (optional)
4 T. vegetable or peanut oil, divided
½ c. soy sauce
3 T. sherry cooking wine
2 T. packed brown sugar
2 T. cornstarch
1 T. minced fresh ginger
Sesame seeds for sprinkling
Red pepper flakes for sprinkling
Directions:
1. Cook jasmine rice according to instructions on the package. Once cooked, add butter (optional) and season with salt.
2. Meanwhile, slice flank steak into very thin slices, against the grain.
3. In bowl, mix sherry, brown sugar, cornstarch and fresh ginger. Add flank steak and mix well.
4. On medium-high to high heat, heat 2 T. oil in large skillet or wok. Add snow peas, season with salt & pepper, and cook for one minute. Remove from pan and set aside.
5. Using same pan, add 1 T. oil. Heat oil and then add half of flank steak mixture to hot skillet. Cook on medium-high to high heat for 1 to 2 minutes. Turn meat and continue cooking until cooked through (cooks quickly!). Remove from pan and set aside.
6. Repeat step 5 with the remaining uncooked meat.
7. Arrange plates with rice, steak and then snow peas. Top with a sprinkling of sesame seeds and red pepper flakes.
